Carers Awareness Month (June 2021)

Southall Medical Centre regularly engages with awareness days and campaigns throughout the year to encourage good health promotion among our patients.

The campaign we are celebrating in the month of June 2021 is:

Carers Awareness (June 2021)

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, or who needs extra help as they grow older. It isn’t someone who volunteers or is employed to provide support.

Southall Medical Centre have pledged to continue to actively identify carers during Carers Awareness Month.

If you are a carer, please inform our reception staff. We will add you to our carers register and signpost you to relevant information and advice. You also are eligible to receive annual flu vaccination (if you aren’t already eligible) and may also be invited for annual carers health check. There’s lots of support available!
