Antibiotic resistance campaign April 2025

Southall Medical Centre is supporting the UK Health and Security Agency (UKHSA) campaign in April 2025, to reduce the inappropriate prescribing of antibiotics to reduce the growing concern of antibiotic and antimicrobial resistance.

How to keep antibiotics working?

  • Don’t take antibiotics for colds or the flu. They won’t work!
  • Don’t save leftover antibiotics for later.
  • Only take antibiotics as directed by your GP, nurse or pharmacist.

What exactly is antimicrobial resistance (AMR)?

AMR occurs when bacteria and other microorganisms evolve to survive the medicines we use to fight them. Just as we adapt to challenges, bacteria can adapt to survive antibiotics. When this happens, these vital medicines stop working when we need them most. Find out more about AMR on the NHS website.
