Vision Matters – National Eye Health Week 2025 π
Southall Medical Centre is proud to be supporting National Eye Health Week 2025, running from 22nd to 28th September 2025
We encourage all of our patients to visit their optician regularly, and for our diabetic and high-risk patients to ensure they have attended their diabetic retinopathy appointments
Remember: if you are having issues with your vision, it may be quicker to seek advice from your optician. Your optician can then advise if you need to see your GP or refer you directly to the hospital. For serious or urgent issues, call NHS 111 or 999 as usual.
Did you know?
- More than 2 million people in the UK are living with sight loss, that is severe enough to have a significant impact on their daily lives. Half of this sight loss is avoidable.
- A sight test can detect early signs of conditions like glaucoma, which can be treated if found soon enough
- During a sight test, other health conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure may be detected.
- For healthy eyes, eat well, stay active, donβt smoke and protect your eyes when the UV Index rises to 3 or more.
